What Dress Will Suit Me?

Unsure to what shape to go for and what will suit you?

We know that no-one is the same and everybody’s figure is unique to them but here’s a quick guideline to help you pick the style to best suit your figure.

Are You:

Tall & Thin

Lucky you! You suit most things. The fairytale Cinderella Ballgown / full skirt dress will suit you with a strapless, fitted bodice with embroidery or beading will set off you best features.

Short, Feminine, Fuller Figure

The Empire line dress will work for you. With the seam sitting under the bustline it will flow down and avoid clinging to the body. The longer shape of this cut will give you a lovely tall silhouette. Sleeves are optional if you don’t like your arms go for a long, narrow sleeve but not too tight. If you intend on your hair being up then a long sleeve will also give you more height.

Large or Full Bust

A long bodice basque style with a full skirt will draw attention away from your bust area by making your body look longer. A dress with a natural waistline will make your body look shorter therefore drawing attention to your bust area. Beading or embroidery are fine if continued through in to the skirt. Detail just on the top may also draw attention to that area.

Full/Wide Hips

The Princess style A-line or Ballgown look will suit you both of these styles will flare towards the hem avoiding a tight fit at the hips. However you should avoid a bustle or tiered skirt. If you have a small bust the Empire line will work as well although will downplay your waist and stomach area.

Wide Shoulders

You can narrow the look of your shoulders by wearing wide straps, use a V-neck to draw the focus to your neckline. Stay away from puffed sleeves!
